Remember Reno’s epic bike failures in the high-need areas of Midtown, downtown, UNR and Center Street? That decade of depressing bike lane debacles led us to this moment, a moment when we are now on the cusp of success with the Biggest Little Bike Network. It is the most ambitious and most-connected project our city has tackled – connecting UNR, Midtown, Downtown, east and west. It’s slated to begin construction this year (Parts are already built)!Â
It is imperative that we don’t let those past failures happen again and we keep this momentum by celebrating the champions who are carrying the torch of a safe and sustainable future. That means taking stock, honoring what it took to get where we are and celebrating success so that we are prepared to do it again when that time comes.
The new, multi-part, local documentary series by UNR Filmmaker Richard Bednarski is honoring that history and those champions. Don’t miss the FREE exclusive screening of Cycling Connections, The Making of the Biggest Little Bike Network, Part I. It will be followed by a special guest panel discussion with the people who are making The Biggest Little Bike Network happen:
- Kerrie Koski, Reno City Engineer
- Sara Going, RTC Project Manager
- Richard Bednarski, FilmmakerÂ
